Math: Collect Candy Data
Language Arts: Read for 1/2 hour and record your minutes on your 6 Flags Reading Log. If you haven't printed it yet there is a link to it on our homepage.
Today in class:
Math: Today in class we measured our arm span and our heighth to make comparisons to data in the book. We also observed patterns between a person's heighth and their arm span. We also discussed data regarding treats from Halloween. Tonight if possible students should collect data about candy they collected during Halloween (if they went out). They can record that data on a graph paper I gave them OR better yet use the shared spreadsheet in google docs. that Nate sent out with a list of candy and simply record their data in one of the columns. That way we can compare data throughout the classroom. Students also began learning how to use Open Office spread sheets to create graphs.
Language Arts; Mr. Amato came in to have a book chat with students about the Revealers and share what he saw were ways the principal at Parkland Middle School could have handled some of the bullying incidents in the book. It was a rich discusssion.
Social Studies: We are learning some basic facts about Mexico and taking notes. Some students were researching what literacy rates mean and comparing the literacy rate of Mexico to other countries (including our own). Also we are learning basic geography about Mexico.
Science: We had an enriching discussion about the nervous system today. We went over vocabulary from a vocbulary word packet. We will continue to read from this packet and discuss information about the Nervous System.
Homework:
